Poetry Club is facilitated by Lakesha R. Newson and Gail A. Whalen of Miracles in Motion. They were both former parent consultants with the Columbus City Schools. Ms. Lakesha is a social worker and Mrs. Whalen is a life coach. They have been volunteering in the Columbus City Schools and Schiller Recreation Center fo the past four years. Poetry Club is a wonderful time for students to express themselves through the arts while helping to imporve their reading and writing skills. They meet weekly, and students work on focused topics and different styles of poetry while having fun. To commemorate the year students submit their favorite poem to be complied and put in a commemorative form. In the past we have had commerotative projects such as books, bookmarks, calendars, and tote bags.
